Noble One obliges as favourites flop

MUMBAI, JANUARY 10: Most of the favourites disappointed on the 14th day’s card of eight events at Mahalakshmi on Monday. The HR Shantidas Trophy, 1800 metres, was no exception. Favourite Ronaldo failed to hold Noble One whom P Kamlesh forcefully guided to a thrilling victory. Mount Rose and Clear Sense were other hot choices who send back the race goers in cold.

Representatives of the bookmakers met the stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) asno deduction on place was given in view of the withdrawal of Falconaire in the concluding event.

The stewards agreed to allow 20% and 40% deduction on win and place respectively. By then cash-punters had already encashed the dividends. However, the bookmakers would get benefit on credit bets.
