.

The Centre has relaxed the norm for extension of visa to various categories of Chinese citizens. The decision was taken in accordance with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries in 2003.

According to the new norm, six months visa of Chinese businessman with multiple entry can be extended, on merit, upto a year while businessmen with visa of 60 days can be extended upto 180 days. Employment visa for Chinese nationals can now be extended here in India up to 5 years on a yearly basis subject to no “adverse activity” and the foreigner continuing to keep his employment. The new provisions will ensure easier movement and stay of Chinese business persons, professionals and their dependents in India. Changes have also been brought about in the category of E visa-holders.
