With speculation rife about Jet Airways getting clearance to fly to the United States, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today said the matter was an “area of concern” and that “procedures have to be followed”. “It is a government-to-government dealing,” Patel said. “We should be more concerned about our own security. Having given clearance to operate in India after due clearance from the Home Ministry, why are we delaying the issue.” Jet had been permitted to fly to the US by New Delhi for thrice-a-week operations.
The plan ran into trouble following allegations by US namesake Jet Airways Inc, saying the Indian carrier had links with Al-Qaeda.
