After Assam and Bihar, it was Mumbai on Tuesday. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams made for a Molotov cocktail again as angry Shiv Sena members ransacked the board’s Mumbai Central office and injured three Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and one Government Railway Police constable. RRB chairman Anil Mittal and assistant security commissioner (RPF), Rajan Datt, were also injured.

The Sena alleged that North Indians were being favoured whereas Maharashtrians ignored. ‘‘This is just a trailer, we will show you (the film) if you continue to hold examinations for outsiders,’’ a Sena member threatened, after his colleagues broke a few computers, chairs, tables and glass at t he station.

‘‘It was 10.35 am. About 60-70 people entered my office and started breaking and throwing things around. They wanted to know why people other than Maharashtrians were allowed to apply for these posts,’’ said Anil Mittal.

Later, Sena leader Raj Thackeray announced that his party would not allow the board to hold examinations on November 23, December 7 and 14 if locals were not allowed to appear for the same.

So, will the Sunday exam be cancelled or postponed? ‘‘No, there is no question of cancellation as intimation has been sent to more than 1.5 lakh candidates all over the country,’’ said Mittal, adding that additional security arrangements will be in place.
