Noted Gandhian and social reformer Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast, which begins on February 20 at the Mantralaya, has attained a global complexion and support as hundreds of Indians residing in the bay area of the USA as well as citizens from Australia, UK and other parts of India, are set to join him in a symbolic fast along with him.The People’s Resolve to Act for Justice and Accountability (PRAJA), a voluntary organisation comprising Indians in the bay area who have launched an ambitious initiative ‘‘to impact the speed and direction of development of India’’, have appealed through their website, www.prajanet.org, to join in the fast on Feb 20.The appeal has received prompt response, with emotional notes attached with it. Writes Ram Gupta from Cerritos, California, ‘‘I am honoured to be a miniscule part of this.’’ That there is reverence for Hazare is amply reflected in all those who have pledged to go on a symbolic fast for him. PRAJA has been successful in gathering 84,000 signatures online for an online petition in favour of a Supreme Court ruling.
