The NSCN (I-M) on Tuesday said that it was not “favouring” any political party for the March 5 Assembly elections in Nagaland. “Naga political cause is most important for the NSCN (I-M) and the organisation will not compromise its principles by participating in an election held under the Constitution,” the outfit’s information and publicity wing said in a statement. The NSCN(K) has already asked all Naga underground factions not to involve themselves in the election, either in favour of or against any particular political party. NGOs, particularly Joint Forum of Nagaland Gaonburhas (village chiefs) and Dobhashis (interpreters), have also appealed to all underground groups not to involve themselves in the Assembly elections so that peaceful, free and fair polls can be conducted in the state.
