PUNE, Oct 5: Less fancied octagonal (S Narredu up) claimed the prestigious Kingfisher Mysore Derby (Grade-I) 1997 in a thrilling finish, here today.

The winner owned by Dr MAM Ramaswamy and trained by R Foley, Octogonal was last until 200 metres and pipped the favourite Regal Equity at the post to win the race. Trainer R Foley saddled three winners in which two were ridden by jockey S Narredu. Two favourites obliged in card of seven events.
