After a gap of nearly 15 years, the Indian cricket team will play a full-fledged Test and one-day series in Pakistan in March next year. This follows the Centre’s nod for resumption of sporting ties between the arch rivals.Announcing this here today, Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said the series would include Test matches and a number of one-dayers, details of which were being worked out.The series would be followed by the Asia Cup in Pakistan which would involve four other teams. The Indian team would be touring Pakistan after taking a fortnight’s rest following their return in mid-February from a tour of Australia, Dalmiya said.In Bangalore, skipper Saurav Ganguly said India’s tour to Pakistan in March would be a big occasion and exciting for both the teams.‘‘We are more than willing to go. It’s going to be a big occasion. An India-Pakistan match is always exciting. We are looking forward to it. It’s going to be a big match, pressure game, it’s going to be good,’’ Ganguly told reporters.India had last toured Pakistan in 1989 when Sachin Tendulkar made his debut. Although Pakistan visited India in early 1999, the ties were snapped immediately after the Kargil war in mid-1999. The cricket teams of two countries have not played on each other’s soil for more than four years.
