With Lok Sabha polls in mind and setting out his 100-day agenda, Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh today decided to start on a populist note. The poll promise of providing iodized salt at 25 paise per kg to all BPL families, including tribals, will become a reality from January 26.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting. Over 18,000 MT of salt will be made available to 7.20 lakh BPL families every year.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to the Jogi school bags in tribal areas but the only condition will be replacing the ex-chief minister’s picture with that of Swami Vivekanand.
