The fact that even the high and mighty are resorting to it says a lot about the Right to Information having come of age. Last month, Anil Ambani’s Reliance Natural Resources Ltd went the RTI way to get information on brother Mukesh’s D-6 gas discovery. A woman employee of RNRL filed for information on the development plan of block D6. However, Mukesh’s Reliance Industries Ltd declined, saying that the information was “highly confidential and business sensitive”. It said that because of “competing interests”, any information given could provide the applicant with unfair advantage for commercial gains.
