MUMBAI, JUNE 22: Police have arrested one of the four accused in a case of housebreaking and assault on a 57-year-old woman at Worli recently.On June 12, the 15-year-old servant of Bhanu Chandumal, a seventh-floor resident of Poonam Apartments, Worli, whom she only knew as Miltu and had employed two weeks ago, told her he was going out awhile and left the home, police said.A few minutes later, three men barged into her house, threatened her with weapons, cut the telephone wires and used them to tie up her arms and legs, police said. Then the three looted ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 1.57 lakh and decamped.After the assault, Miltu did not return to the Chandumal home. Inquiries by Worli police revealed the three assailants had been working in an Umbergaon factory some time ago, and after having got their addresses and description from the place, police set out for the native place of the three, Hurali village in Bihar. There, the police team led by sub-inspector Sridhar Hanchate tracked down one of the three, Anup Kumar Jagdev Rawat (21). However, the other two and the servant have managed to flee to Nepal. Police have recovered the ornaments from Rawat.Interrogation of the arrested accused has revealed that Miltu had tipped off the other three. After the three committed the crime, the servant met them and escaped to Bihar along with them.
