Constant travelling should not stop you from achieving your fitness goals. Get movin’ with on-the-go gym gear

Gear up for fitness on the go. If you’re among those who can’t give up working out even while you’re at work, there’s gym gear that promises to keep your fitness schedule bang on schedule. While basics like choose healthy options while planning your meals, taking the stairs, walking as much as you can…remain unchanged, there’s now an option to pack up handy equipment which will help you work out your entire body, especially when you have no time to hit the gym or there’s an absence of one where you are travelling.

Nods Harshbir Singh of Platinum Fitness, who feels if you’re working hard at the gym to achieve your goals, it makes sense to keep up with exercise even if you’re travelling frequently. “The market now has a range of fitness products which are both compact and effective and all you need is a little will and some tips from your trainer to work out any time, anywhere,’’ Singh highly recommends resistance bands which ensure complete upper and lower body work out and also simple floor exercises, lunges and free-hand exercises.

At Prime Sports in Sector 7, Rajender Bajaj has at hand a range of effective equipment that can be your fitness companion. Light, stylish, affordable, Bajaj lists the current favourites like the body trimmer stretch and resistance bands that work out your entire body, a digitalized body sculptor skipping rope which will confirm the number of calories you have burnt, colourful grip and squeeze balls, dainty wrist and ankle weights, deflatable swiss balls, foldable push-up bar and foam covered hand-grips. “These don’t occupy space and are not bulky either,’’ adds Bajaj.

With a little innovation and will-power you can make the most of any place fitness trainer Jolly talks about the importance of a good warm up and using water bottles as weights, doing side stretches and side kicks for the waist, sit-ups, squats with the help of a chair et al. You can also use a calorie-tracking pedometer which accurately measures distance and calculates the calories burned. There’s then the rowing action exerciser which tightens abs, strengthens back and tones thighs. “Aerobic bands increase your strength and flexibility and of course, give a great work out,’’ confirms the trainer.

Another interesting concept comes from Technogym, an Italian company, which has created a travel gym which is compact and lightweight. The Wellness Bag fits easily into a suitcase or holdall or can be carried with the wellness pad. The product is accompanied by a series of manuals, while the products are modular, simple to assemble and easy to use in a vast range of exercises. From strength and conditioning, muscle flexibility, it’s great for both intensive training and use by beginners. “Just 45 minutes to an hour of work out is what you need to not only look good, but also feel good. In fact, as I am always on the move, I never take out my essential exercise equipment for my bag,’’ shares Roshan Rai, a banker.
