The Saudi telecom watchdog has disqualified Egypt’s Orascom and India’s MTNL, two of the nine groups bidding for a third mobile phone licence in the Gulf’s largest telecom market.

Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) will open on next Saturday financial proposals by seven consortiums that were qualified, it said.

The consortium of Reliance Communications with Abdullah Adbulaziz Al-Rajhi has qualified for the mobile licence.
