
The Orissa state government is planning stiff legislative measures to weed out corruption in the administration. The government is planning to bring out a Bill in this regard in the next session of the Assembly.
The Bill’s provisions include confiscation of property both movable and immovable acquired by public servants beyond their known sources of income.
The provisions of the Bill were discussed at a high-level meeting on Wednesday presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. If the Bill comes into effect then a designated authority in the state will have
Sources said the National Law Commission as well as the Chief Vigilance Commissioner have commended the proposed legislation lauding it a radical step to stamp out corruption in the administration.
