
MUMBAI, January 9: The Customs Preventive Commissionerate of Mumbai destroyed at least 1,054 kilograms of narcotics at Thane today. The drugs, comprising hashish and mandrax tablets totally valued at about Rs 50 crore in the international market, were incinerated in a furnace at a Thane factory.
The destruction was supervised by a committee headed by S S Sekhon, Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Mumbai. Other members included T H K Ghauri, Additional Commissioner of Customs (Preventive) D R Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Customs (Airport), Deepak Kumar and R A Mehendule, Assistant Commissioner of Customs (Preventive).
