S.A.S. NAGAR, March 28: Over three lakh people from different parts of the country and abroad participated in the five-day long gurmat samagam which concluded here today. The samagam is organised every year in the memory of Sant Attar Singh.

Bhai Jasbir Singh Khalsa (Khannewale) asserted that the main purpose of the samagam was to spread the message of Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh had warned the countrymen against certain social evils like AIDS, pollution and use of intoxicants, he added.

Gurmit Singh, secretary of the Sri Guru Harkishan Sahib Eye Hospital Trust, Sohana, thanked the people for the success of the celebrations. As part of the concluding day’s programme, a turban tying competition was held and the winners were given prizes and presented siropas. Various Sikh scholars addressed the gathering during the samagam and a langar was also served.
