Assistant Sub-Inspector Pancham Singh of Delhi Police may not know this, but he is probably the senior-most official from the Indian Government that the visiting Pakistani delegation will get to meet during their week-long tour.Unknown to Singh, the delegation has been creating waves in the seminar halls that they have graced ever since they walked over to the Indian side. And since then, the band of 12 legislators are on a mission to discover India as well as walk down the Track-II diplomatic path. If the MEA and ruling NDA MPs were maintaining a safe distance, the delegation could take heart from the likes of R.K. Kohli, once a resident of Rawalpindi like visiting M.P. Bhandara who is a legislator in the Pakistani National Assembly and a member of the PML(QA).And then there are the innumerable questions. ‘‘Can the LoC be turned into an international border? ‘‘No, I don’t think so because many in Pakistan as well as India would not accept that as a solution to the Kashmir problem,’’ said Bhandara. ‘‘Can we concentrate on economics rather than our differences?’’ asked another. ‘‘An excellent suggestion,’’ replied Bhandara, adding: ‘‘In fact, why can’t we compartmentalise our problems, discuss areas of commonality and then decide on the more contentious issues.’’
