Two suspects arrested in Mumbai, a man interrogated in Ahmedabad. That’s the only headway that’s been made in the Haren Pandya murder probe as of now.

The CBI team today studied the statement of eyewitnesses recorded by the Ellisbridge police and inspected the scene of the crime.

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) also prepared a hand-drawn sketch of the alleged assailant, supposed to be in the age group of 25 and 30 and about five feet in height. ‘‘But it is not a very precise sketch, we’ll now construct a computer-generated sketch of the assailant on the basis of the description provided by the eye-witnesses,’’ a DCB official said.

Meanwhile, the DCB detained a resident of Odhav area Basir Ahmed Khan for questioning, after a caller told the police that he had spotted a vehicle near Law Garden with a weapon on the front seat. The caller had also given the registration number of the vehicle.

‘‘We have questioned him and there’s no evidence to substantiate the caller’s claim. It seems the car was not taken out that day,’’ a senior police official said.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Nilesh Bhatt, who has been Pandya’s assistant since 12 years, refuted reports that Pandya’s car was found parked at the very spot where he always did. ‘‘Never had I found the car parked at the spot where it was on March 26. He always parked it near the triangular road divider opposite the entrance to the garden,’’ Bhatt said. That day, the car was parked across the road, he added.
