Six months after it was constituted to look into the Gurjjar community’s demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list, the Justice Jasraj Chopra Committee on Monday submitted its report to the state Government on the issue. The 200-page report, submitted to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, would be discussed at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, officials said.

Meanwhile, members of Meena community are trying to build pressure on the Government to ensure that it does not give in to Gurjjars’ demand. In fact, in the past few days, three MLAs and a minister belonging to the Meena community have resigned from their posts. On Sunday, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kirorilal Meena sent his resignation to the Chief Minister and the state BJP president.

Upset with the pressure tactics of the Meenas, the Gurjjar leaders have threatened another agitation. Col Kirori Singh Bainsla said that they were not eating into the reservation pie but demanding their Constitutional right. “We are waiting for Tuesday to see what the report contains,” he stated.
