A Parsi family has sought police action against city-based builder Kanti Patel and his nephew Dhananjay for allegedly usurping a property near Sama Road worth nearly Rs 8 crore.

Zarina Dalal, who is the original inheritor of the property, has said that the uncle-nephew duo bribed the government land records officials to forge their signatures and usurp the property.

“We never gave them any power of attorney. They were eyeing our property for a long time and approached us a couple of times for purchase,” said Dalal, who moved to the US along with her husband, Rustam Maiyyat.

“We were supposed to come back and start construction in the plot, when we found that Kanti Patel and Dhananjay had managed to bribe the local officials and forge the documents,” said Maiyyat.

Last month, Dalal wrote to Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana along with the

evidences against Patel and his nephew. Dalal said that Asthana had directed Fatehgunj Inspector J R Desai to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. But the police are taking a long time to nab the accused.

On his part, Desai said the complaint was being investigated and a notice was sent to Patel and his nephew.

The couple claimed they have all the evidences, including the original land records of the house, which clearly points that Patel and his nephew had changed the power of attorney while there was no change in the land records.
