Even as major political parties on Wednesday submitted lists of their candidates, under the proportional representation system, election on April 10 remained under shadow of doubts and uncertainty with the Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party skipping the process. The Rashtriya Janashkati Party, headed by former PM Surya Bahadur Thapa, also chose not to submit its list, declaring that “it will not participate in an election where the issues of Madheshi and Janjatis go unaddressed”. Together, these two groups constitute the majority of the population. PM G P Koirala, along with his Nepali Congress and two allies, the Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist Leninist and the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists, announced that the polls will be held as scheduled.
