UF okay for Gujral seat

NEW DELHI: The United Front on Monday is understood to have endorsed Janata Dal’s decision to field Prime Minister I K Gujral from Jalandhar in Punjab where Akali Dal, an ally of Bharatiya Janata Party, has offered support to him. The front’s core committee also discussed seat sharing among front partners.

CPI in Bihar

PATNA: The CPI on Monday announced that it would contest 17 of the 54 LS seats in Bihar. A decision to this effect was taken by the party’s Bihar State Council and executive committee at a meeting here, CPI sources said.
