ROOPNGAR, SEPT 15: Pawanjit of Sangurur won the 1500 metres freestyle gold on the opening day of the 45th Punjab Schools Swimming Championship here today. Sangrur's Manraj and Puneet Chechi of Roopnagar claimed first positions in the 800 metres freestyle events for boys and girls respectivley.Anisha of Ludhiana stood first in 400 metres freestyle for girls under-17. Ravinder of Sangrur and Manpreet Kaur of Hoshiarpur were first in the 400 metres freestyle for boys and girls respectively.Earlier, Roopnagar Deputy Commissioner Kulbir Singh Sidhu announced a grant of Rs 25,000 to the organising committee for the meet.
