PATIALA, March 26: Various teacher groups of Punjabi University have strongly condemned the removal of Dr Gurdeep Singh as Head of the Department of Business Management.
The United Teachers Front (UTF) has condemned the decision of the syndicate to remove Dr Gurdip Singh of business management from the chairmanship of the Department. Dr Kehar Singh, chairman of the UTF, accused the vice- chancellor of vindictiveness. He alleged that the V-C presented to the syndicate only those inquiries that advanced his partisan designs. Whereas he pushed under the rug the recommendations of the same inquiry officer about the same department that did not suit his scheme of things.
Dr Dalbir Singh Dhillon, convenor, Sikh Intelligentsia Forum, said that the V-C was running the university as a fiefdom and had thrown all rules and regulations to the wind. Dr Sharanpal Singh of Liberal Teachers Council lamented that the syndics did not take much interest in the affairs of the university and had let the V-C run it according to his whims and fancies.
Dr Sham Lal Singla of the Nationalist Teachers Council accused some sections of the faculty as abettors of the partisan authorities.
