S.A.S. NAGAR, Sept 26: Riding on a strokefilled century by opener Sandeep Sharma (107), Punjab Cricket Association XI ground Indian Airlines by 67 runs to enter the final of the sixth J P Atray Memorial cricket tournament here at the PCA Stadium today.

In the morning, the Indian Airlines bowlers were sent on a leather hunt by the Sandeep-Rathore duo. The two brought up the hundred of the innings in the 13th over, leaving the rival skipper Vijay Dahiya struggling to marshal his resources. Rathore hit a six and six fours in his 41-ball knock while Sandeep had two sixes and eight fours in his 103-ball knock.

Though Young Reetinder Sodhi kept pace with the run rate, the PCA Colts innings faltered a little in the middle overs as Airlines spinners Yuvraj Singh and Subhash Chuadhary and seamer R P Singh bowled a tight line. Airlines openers Dahiya and J Arun Kumar too punished the PCA Colts’ new-ball attack, adding 72 runs for the first wicket. Though Arun was playing his strokes from one end, leg spinner Sandeep Sawal turned the match in his team’s favour with a rich haul of 4 for 40.
