PUNE, Dec 30: The Pune Cantonment Board has served a notice on Hotel Aurora Towers for the alleged illegal construction of a health club on the sixth floor. Brig Madan Gopal, president, PCB, will be inspecting the construction in the next few days."The health club is illegally constructed, the hotel lawyer is saying it has been there for a long time, so I will go and see the construction,'' said Brig Gopal. A notice for carrying out illegal constructions inside the hotel located in the prime MG Road area was issued under Section 185 of the Cantonment Act, 1924, on July 1998. According to the PCB, the illegal constructions include an office with plywood partitions, a room with toilets attached, the kitchen and dining room, store and linen rooms, hairdressers' rooms, storage hall and wooden partitions.It has been alleged that these illegal constructions were carried out in the part of the service room in the south side of the hotel. The notice also stated that unauthorised constructions were allegedly carried out inside the health club with aluminium windows at the south-side terrace on the sixth floor. Advocate AJ Castellino, who appeared on behalf of the hotel, told PCB that the construction work began in 1982 and was completed in 1989-90.
