J-K Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is likely to contest the Assembly by-election from Pahalgam. The seat had fallen vacant after the election of PDP president and his daughter, Mehbooba Mufti to the Lok Sabha.Bypolls in four Assembly constituencies, the others being Batmaloo, Akhnoor and Basholi, are scheduled for October. ‘‘There is a possibility of the CM contesting the polls,’’ Housing and Urban Development Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir said, adding the names of candidates will be finalised at the party meeting to be held in a week.
