CHENNAI, NOV 11: AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha might not be in a position to contest the Assembly elections at all in the event of getting convicted in the cases filed against her, MGR-ADMK general secretary S Thirunavukkarasu said today.Thirunavukkarasu was interacting with mediapersons soon after the executive council meeting of the MGR-ADMK and election of former Speaker of the State Assembly Munu Adhi as chairman of the party presidium.He said the cases would catch up with Jayalalitha soon as she had already exhausted all the weapons in her armoury of ``delaying tactics''.Thirunavukkarasu decried Jayalalitha's attempt to ``politicise'' even what was billed as her courtesy call on TMC president G K Moopanar. With the Congress and Left parties on her side, she had hoped that her front would win over 30 Lok Sabha seats last month. But she had realised that without roping in the TMC, the chances of her party coming back to power in the State were rather bleak, the MGR-ADMK leader said.Accusing Jayalalitha of creating a wrong impression that the TMC would choose to be her ally, he recalled that the TMC was born in a political environment that was marked by a pronounced anti-Jayalalitha disposition.``I believe that Moopanar and his followers, who came out of the Congress in 1996 to oppose an alliance with the corrupt AIADMK leadership, will not accept Jayalalitha's invitation to join hands,'' he said.Thirunavukkarasu reiterated his demand of a ministerial berth for his party in the Vajpayee Government. He argued that when other small parties were accommodated, the MGR-ADMK with two members in Parliament - one each in the two Houses - should be represented in the Union Ministry.
