BANGALORE, Aug. 1: Constant use of pesticides for saving the crop in turn affects human health, according to Dr. P K Shetty, research scientist, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. Speaking on ‘Impact of pesticides on human health and environment’ organised by the Bangalore Science Forum, he said that five million people are poisoned by pesticides every year, as per a study by the Food and Agricultural Organisation. The government must take steps to prevent use of banned synthetic pesticides, he said.
