
MUMBAI, June 16: The Bombay High Court today admitted a petition challenging the construction of cooperative housing societies comprising sitting and retired high court judges in the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) in the Juhu-Versova area. However, the division bench of Chief Justice MB Shah and Justice Ranjana Desai did not grant interim relief on staying construction in the CRZ. The matter is postponed for hearing till August 17.Filed by Society for Clean Environment and its president Debi Goenka, the petition contends that there is rampant degradation of city beaches. Housing socities such as Panchsheel Federation, Vanshree, Prachi and Rooprang are being constructed in gross violation of CRZ rules.
