A petition by advocate Arvind Shukla was filed on Thursday in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Election Commission to derecognise Raj Thackeray’s MNS for his controversial remarks against north Indians.

A lawyer associated with the filing of the petition said it was likely to be mentioned on Friday before Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan for urgent hearing in the wake of large-scale violence by Raj Thackeray’s party workers against north Indians.
