In a move to expedite the revival of the Dabhol power plant, the government is planning to rope in Petronet LNG. The EGoM on Dabhol has now asked the ministry of petroleum and natural gas to examine the possibility of involving Petronet in the project.
At the last EGoM meet held earlier this month, the issue of roping in Petronet LNG was raised.
On waiver of regulatory clearance, the ministry of power indicated that the regulator would not give approval unless the gas supply and power purchase pacts were in place. But they also said, the regulator would tend to stick to the same capital cost as approved by CCEA. The tentative project cost for the revival of Dabhol power project works out to Rs 10,038 crore, which has been approved by the EGoM. — Kandula Subramanium & Amitav Ranjan
