NAGPUR, Oct 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Assistant Commissioner and an enforcement officer of the regional provident fund (PF) commissioner’s office here on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
According to CBI sources, the Assistant Commissioner V R Srimali, was the seniormost officer to be trapped in Nagpur.Sources said the enforcement officer V Muralidhar, had allegedly visited the Ravi Steel and Rolling Mills at Wardhamannagar on the outskirts of the city and reported some irregularities in PF deductions to the Assistant Commissioner.The duo then conducted a raid on the mill on October 18 and found the number of workers much more than shown in PF records.
