VADODARA, Dec 14: The 9th Gujarat-level philatelic exhibition, Gujpex ’98, will begin here from December 17 and continue till December 19, according to a statement issued by the Baroda Philatelic Society.
The exhibition, to be held at the Nizampura Atithi Gruh, will feature collections of pre and post-Independent India in form of stamps, postal stationery and flight covers. Stamps from countries including Pakistan, Singapore, Jamaica and on various subjects like flowers, butterflies, birds, bridges, fish, Nobel laureates, medicines, AIDS, mountains, princess Diana and Mahatma Gandhi, among others, will also be on display.
More than 100 philatelists from different parts of Gujarat are expected to display some 350 frames. The Society will display pictorial and historical cancellations of Vadodara, while in junior class, 32 participants and school clubs will exhibit their collection.
A philatelic workshop has also been organised for school children with the help of BPS. The society has also organised an essay competition on Gujpex ’98 for school children. Entry forms will be available during the exhibition from the information counter of BPS.
