The second edition of International Gallerie is out and if possible, it is even better than the first. A bi-annual publication, the editor Bina Sarkar Ellias refuses to slot her magazine into the categories of lifestyle, culture or art. "In a world fragmented by a multitude of sensations… a single thread of energy weaves music into dance into theatre… into Life itself. This is Gallerie," says Ellias.

And she is right. The first — and inaugural issue — won two awards at the Art Directors Club of New York’s 77th annual awards. The second issue too seems ready to win the sweepstakes. The editorial mix is balanced — from Adil Jussawalla on artist Bhupen Khakhar to an article on Alfred Hitchcock’s elegant brand of horror (incidentally, it’s Janet Leigh from his film Psycho on the cover — remember the famous shower scene?) to a trip to Myanamar in the travel section — and the pages are a visual delight.

Processed by Paradise Multimedia in Mumbai and printed at Pragati Art Printers,Hyderabad, Gallerie proves that international quality magazines — in terms of content, layout and delectable design — can be found right here, at our doorsteps. A must-own for those who savour the literary and visual.

International Gallerie; Pages: 132; Price: Rs 200.
