HISAR, Oct 30: Dharamvir, the new Vice-Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University (GJU) has asked the faculty to improve the quality of teaching and research and development.

He said that in a rapidly changing world, quality, innovation and speed are necessary. With this objective, the laboratories and workshops of the university would be upgraded and provided with the latest equipment.

In his maiden address after becoming acting VC, Dharamvir said that though the varsity already had professional and job-oriented courses, a lot was required to be done to make it a centre of excellence for higher studies.

He advocated the need to plug teaching gaps and concentrate upon research and development and consultancy so that students could be exposed to the latest trends in science and technology.

He also asked the departmental heads to prepare an action plan for the next three years’ so that the laboratories and courses could be developed systematically.

Dharamvir took over as VC, in addition to his duties as secretary, Electronics, and Commissioner, Hisar division.Later, addressing the deans and heads of departments, he issued orders to prepare a catalogue in the library and to take steps to computerise the library work. Office automation is expected to be completed in three months, he said. Every faculty member and student of should be exposed to computers and information technology. Besides providing computing facilities to the department, centralised laboratories will be set up.
