New Delhi, Nov 21: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today denied setting up any fund other than the National Defence Fund (NDF) for relief of Kargil martyrs and those injured in Operation Vijay.

The PMO, while reacting to some media reports, denied setting up a `Kargil relief fund’.

About the receipts for the contributions to the NDF reaching late, the PMO said banks followed a procedure and the receipts were issued only after the realisation of cheques and drafts given by the donors.

They said due to overwhelming response to the NDF, the PMO had received nearly 80,000 cheques and drafts which were duly fowarded to the State Bank of India.

It said there was a slight delay in issuing receipts due to the large number of donors.
