CHANDIGARH, Sept 27: The All-India Punjab National Bank Officer’s Association has given call for a day’s token strike on October 4, in protest against "unilateral decision of the management to revise promotion policy without deliberation with Majority Officer’s Association."
According to Vijay Kathpalia, zonal secretary of the association, the promotion policy constitutes an important aspect of service conditions and the existing policy was implemented with effect from March 1991 after discussion with AIPNBOA management.
"A small committee consisting of members from the management and the association was formed by the bank management for the revision of certain clauses of the promotion policy. “A mutually agreed date was to be fixed, but suddenly the management backtracked and decided to form a sub-committee to amend the promotion policy without discussion with AIPNBOA," he explained.
A one-day hunger strike was observed by the officers today. "The protest and demonstrations will continue till the management accepts the right of officers for bilateral settlement."
