Man held for making bomb hoax calls
A lock-seller was arrested on Monday night for making anonymous bomb hoax calls. Raj Kumar Sharma (22) — originally from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and now living in Karawal Nagar — was making the call from the Shahdara railway station. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Police Control Room (PCR) Sandeep Goel, “The PCR received the first call at around 1 a.m. about a bomb blast at the Shahdara railway station. An alert was immediately sounded. However, when the call was repeated three or four times and were not found to be authentic, the nearest PCR van was sent there and he was nabbed.” According to the police, Kumar was drunk and was on his way back to Aligarh.

Two murders
Two eople were murdered in separate incidents in northeast Delhi on Monday. Both bodies were found early on Tuesday morning. In one case, a 60-year-old man was found strangled to death at his B-6/146 Nand Nagri home at 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday. There were ligature marks on his neck. While a murder case has been registered, the police have not made any arrests. They claimed that the motive could be a family dispute. In the second incident a 40-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Ghonda, Bhajanpura on Monday night. They allege that Gyanwati’s husband Satpal Singh is a smack addict and is also unemployed. The two would constantly fight about money, said the police. Woman robbed of jewellery
An elderly woman was robbed of her jewellery in south Delhi at 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday. Pushpa Handa (55) was alone in her A-11 Uday Park residence. The front door had been left open and two youths — both in their twenties — gained easy access to the house. According to the police, they first threatened her with a knife and then gagged her. The youths then proceeded to remove her gold chain, earrings and four gold bangles. They then locked her up in a bedroom and left, but not before Handa got a good look at them. Her son Vivek came home shortly afterwards and freed her. In another incident in the same district, a woman was robbed of her gold chain in Sukhdev Vihar. Maheshwari was at home with her two sons, aged 10 and 13. A domestic helper, Manoj (27), who worked for them a year ago, came to the house and said that her husband was in a car accident. Manoj then reportedly hit her on the head with the back of a knife, stole her gold chain and left.
