One arrested for murder
With the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Roop Chand, the Sangam Vihar police claim to have solved a murder case. A 19-year-old girl’s body was found in a jungle near Karni Singh Shooting Range yesterday morning.

The girl was reportedly having an affair with a 22-year-old man, Surender, and was planning to elope with him. The accused is an uncle of Surender and had reportedly told the deceased that the two could live in his house to avoid harassment by the police. The girl reportedly left her house with some cash and jewellery and also left a suicide note behind as had been planned. She then went to the shop where the accused worked. There the accused allegedly tried to rape the girl and when she resisted he strangled her with her dupatta. He later tried to smash her head to make identification difficult and put another suicide note in her hand.

Robber held
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on charges of robbing a 22-year-old ambulance driver, Rajan Singh, of his purse which contained around Rs 1,000, near the Safeda Park on National Highway 24 late last night. The complainant reportedly took a rickshaw from near his house to go to the Ghazipur traffic point. On the way two persons, who were identified as Bhure and Munna, boarded the same rickshaw. When they reached Safeda Park, the two allegedly hit Singh on his head and decamped with the money.
