
CHANDIGARH, Feb 22: Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate B.C. Gupta today remanded a city resident facing charges of cheating and fraud to a day’s police custody.
Budh Raj was arrested here yesterday under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 IPC, following a complaint of one Swami Nath. It was alleged that the accused prepared a fake sales deed of his house number 214, Sector 26, Bapu Dham Colony and further sold the same to one Ram Rakha.
In his disclosure statement to the police, the accused admitted that he had prepared a fake sales deed and that the original agreement was kept in a trunk in his village.
The accused today stated before the court that the said agreement was removed by someone at the time when a theft was committed in his house.
The police today asked for a five-day police remand for the accused so that the original sale deed could be recovered. Granting a day’s police remand, the Magistrate ordered the accused to be produced before the court tomorrow.
