NASHIK, May 30: When a housewife from the Indira Nagar locality lodged a complaint with the police against some peeping toms lurking around her house at night, little she realise that the police officer called to help her would turn out to be a pervert himself.

Five days ago, the lady and her husband had filed a complaint with the Bhadrakali police against some youths hanging around her house at night and peeping into her bedroom. Subsequently, assistant police inspector K H Pathan came by the house and took down the relevant information.

However, the next day onwards, he started telephoning her on the pretext of investigating the case. The frequency of his calls increased and his intentions were evident from the nature of the calls. The couple then met Nashik police commissioner P T Lohar, who deputed officials of the Crime Branch to investigate.

The couple’s telephone was tapped revealing that the officer had called the lady 22 times on Wednesday. The Crime Branch asked the lady to play along and call him home. That night, around 9.30 pm the officer entered her house only to be arrested by the Crime Branch sleuths.
