MUMBAI, DEC 5: The Democratic Front Government in Maharashtra would soon take a policy decision regarding clearing the backlog of backward regions of the state, according to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Deshmukh, who was felicitated by the Marathwada Lokvikas Manch here, said a decision would be taken after consulting experts in the field. Deshmukh said establishing statutory development boards for clearing the backlog had served little purpose and some concrete policy measures and funds allocation were needed to clear the backlog.
