The polling for the Lok Sabha elections in Tripura passed off peacefully on Thursday with 60 per cent voter turnout. A security blanket was thrown around polling stations across Tripura, the only state going to poll on Thursday due to the poll boycott called by the All-Tripura Tiger Force.
Police said ATTF ultras fired at Dhanaipara School booth in West Tripura a little after polling began to scare away voters. Ultras also threatened voters at four villages in Mandai on Wednesday night that their fingers would be chopped off if they voted. Aerial surveillance was arranged for 150 booths in insurgency-affected areas. —(PTI)
