Skipper Ricky Ponting struck his fourth World Cup hundred as Australia posted an imposing 334 for six against Scotland in the cricket World Cup here today.Ponting bludgeoned the Scottish bowling to hit a 93-ball 113 and lead an Australian run-fest in the Group 'A' opening one-dayer at the Warner Park. The 32-year old Tasmanian hammered nine fours and five sixes on the way to his 23rd ODI ton and joined compatriot Mark Waugh and India's Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly as the only batsmen to have scored four centuries in the quadrennial event.Ponting also went past the 1000-run mark in World Cup with his opening scoring shot, a boundary. His innings was built on the foundation laid by Adam Gilchrist (46) and Matthew Hayden (60) who put on 91 runs for the opening stand. And when the Scots put the shackles around the Aussies after their captain's departure, Brad Hogg stepped up the gas with a blitzkreig 40 that came from only 15 balls.SCOREBOARDAustralia: Adam Gilchrist lbw Brown 46, Matthew Hayden lbw Haq 60, Ricky Ponting b Wright 113, Michael Clarke b Haq 15, Brad Hodge c Hoffman b Rogers 29, Michael Hussey st Smith b Hoffman 4, Shane Watson not out 18, Brad Hogg not out 40Extras (2lb,1b,5w,1nb): 9; Total: (for 6 wkts, 50 overs) 334Fall of Wickets: 1-91, 2-139, 3-193, 4-256, 5-274, 6-276.Bowling: Paul Hoffman 10-0-57-1, John Blain 4-0-29-0, Craig Wright 10-0-58-1, Dougie Brown 9-0-86-1, Glenn Rogers 10-0-52-1, Majid Haq 7-0-49-2.
