OCTOBER 19:India will have bad rains next year. This is one of the predictions made on national issues at the 23rd national seminar on astrology, held on Sunday.

Also, the nation will have an older prime minister if the government at the Centre falls before April 18 next year and also till then the depression will continue in the share market, according to Mohan Patel, president, All India Astrologers’ Federation, co-sponsor of the meet with Vedang Jyotish Mahavidyalaya.

Students of astrology and astrologers affiliated to the federation attended the seminar. "Astrology is a different discipline altogether different from science," said Patel in his inaugural address. He said that stars positioned favourably for India at the time of independence continue to be so even now. This, according to him, has worked against the separationist tendencies.

"In the post-independence period India has gained the north-eastern states, Diu, Daman and Goa," Patel said.
