MUMBAI, December 15: Depression claimed one more victim today when a worker of Mumbai Port Trust (BPT) committed suicide at Mazgaon by hanging himself.

On Saturday, a housewife, along with her three-year-old son, had committed suicide by jumping from the terrace of a Gamdevi building, and on Friday, a police sub-inspector shot himself with his service revolver allegedly due to depression. MbPT worker, Vasudeo V Raut (45), was found hanging by a rope in his house at BPT colony, Ekta Nagar, at 12.30 pm today. Senior PI of Byculla station, Maruti Gharge said Raut was alone in his house today, as his wife and two daughters had gone to Vasai, their native place. Gharge said the exact cause of the suicide has not been ascertained yet as no suicide note was found at Raut’s place. “Raut was an alcoholic and living under mental tension, as he used to have regular scuffles with his wife,” Gharge said.
