Posts gear up for mail sorting

PUNE, Dec 6: Arrangements to sort out mail V. Sadashivam, Post Master General of Pune region has said alternate arrangements will be made from Monday to sort the mail in the city post offices if a section of striking postmen and peons continued to remain absent from work. They went on strike from Friday demanding reconsideration in the number of surplus posts for re-deployment to manage the increasing workload.

Describing the strike as illegal, Sadashivam, in a press note issued yesterday, said as per the demands of the unions’ representatives the new statistics of the re-deployment are being worked out and hence the process is held in abeyance.

He has requested the customers to bear with the inconvenience and has assured that window delivery would be effected from Monday onwards.
