The BJP said power transfer to it from ally JD(S) in Karnataka was on course and B S Yediyurappa would be the next Chief Minister.

“Let me be clear that the state leadership is united in their support to Yediyurrappa to be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka and there should not be any doubt about the power transfer,” party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

“Our leader Yashwant Sinha is in Bangalore today and he met all the BJP leaders today. He would be meeting JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda in a day or two for further discussion,” he added.

Asked asked if the party would agree to drop its Tourism Minister B Sriramulu in an effort to form the government in Karnataka, first ever for the party in a southern state, Prasad said, “these are finer details to worked out later.”

Sriramulu had invited the wrath of Gowda for filing a criminal complaint against his son and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Gowda wanted BJP to find a solution to the row prior to resuming consultations on power transfer, slated for October 3, as per the power-sharing accord between JD(S) and BJP.
