Howard nomination unclear

New Delhi: South Africa and Zimbabwe cricket boards are leading an initiative to block John Howards nomination for ICCs president-elect for the term starting 2012,with BCCI expected to play crucial role over the final outcome. David Morgan,the current ICC president,is scheduled on Thursday to meet Sharad Pawar,who takes over the presidency next month,over the matter even as Australia and New Zealand,that jointly nominated Howard,defended their choice.

Modi remarks upset Srinivasan

New Delhi: BCCI secretary N Srinivasan lashed out at the suspended IPL Commissioner for his habit of leaking information to the media. Asked if he would stay away from the proceedings and oblige Modi,an annoyed Srinivasan said,Im afraid I cannot discuss these issues. Modi has this habit of leaking information and letters to selected press but I cannot comment on these issues, Srinivasan said. Modi had accused Srinivasan of trying to fix matches by hand-picking a panel of umpires to officiate Chennai Super Kings (CSK) matches in the IPL.

Bhajji wishes team good luck

Jalandhar: Rested from the tour of Zimbabwe,Harbhajan Singh wished the Indian team led by Suresh Raina good luck and said that the side,with several fresh faces,has the ability to win the series.They have good potential and I hope they come back with flying colours, he said,adding that he is utilising the break to indulge in some endurance-enhancement training. I do not go to gym very much but I stick to a lot of ground exercise,do a lot of running around the field to enhance my stamina and endurance that will help me on the cricket ground.

CSA keep eye on team security

Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa is keeping an eye on the security situation in Jamaica,where a raging gun-battle has broken out between police and an alleged drug kingpin loyalists,to ensure safety of the national team due to play at the Sabaina Park next week. With the emergency imposed on the island, CSAs own security team is also reviewing the entire situation. The Proteas will take on the West Indies in the last match of the five-ODI series at Jamaica.
